Cimalpes has selected for you the most beautiful destinations in the Alps. Discover without further ado La Clusaz and La Plagne, 2 authentic resorts that will charm you with their activities and events all year round. Not forgetting their legendary gentle way of life!
From the Aravis pass to the Confins lake, La Clusaz (or la Clus' as the old-timers say) is a must-see ski resort for anyone interested in snow sports and mountain heritage.
Winter and summer alike, the village is full of activities for small or large groups to discover and enjoy.
The ski area of La Clusaz / Manigod is vast, with many slopes for all levels. The Beauregard plateau offers the perfect terrain for ski school beginners.
After the snow falls, the experienced skiers can climb to the top of the Balmes massif to hurtle down the slopes or go off-piste at speed. Some even combine the pleasures of sliding with those of flying by trying out speed-riding, a mixture of downhill skiing and paragliding.
In La Clusaz, the snow cover means that you can enjoy the slopes until the Ponts de Mai.
La Clusaz also has a well-preserved heritage, including the Savoyard bell tower of the Saint Foy church, as well as gourmet experiences, such as a visit to the Chèvrerie des Confins with its delicious PDO cheeses. The Hameau des Alpes provides the history of the region and the resort.
After a day or two of gastronomy and heritage, what about climbing a mountain?
The gentle sound of cowbells will accompany you as you climb the Col des Aravis. On a multitude of marked hiking trails, you may be lucky enough to spot marmots before taking in a view of Mont Blanc. The more athletic visitor can take the Via Ferrata for a roped climb.
As Christmas Eve approaches, the festival Les Pestacles du Père Noël provides street arts that will delight families with a touch of magic and a lot of poetry. At the end of January, there is the Trail'n'ski des Confins, a trail running course on snow which can be done solo or in teams; it transforms the lake into a huge playground!
Between the end of March and the beginning of April, music abounds during the Radio Meuh Circus Festival. This independent web radio station organises numerous live concerts and DJ sets on free stages and sunny terraces.
In mid-June, there is the Roc des Alpes, now known as the Alpes Bike Festival, which takes you on a mountain bike ride along the steep paths. Shortly after 14 July, the Aravis & Cie festival organises 5 days of unusual sporting activities to help you discover the pleasures of the mountains with your family. Gourmets will enjoy the Reblochon and Crafts Festival, which takes place in mid-August that celebrates the many cheese dairies to be found in the mountain pastures around our beautiful resort!
Want to discover the resort of La Clusaz?
To see the mountains with the family is a dream that many of us share! A Christmas in the snow, a New Year's Eve with your nearest and dearest or a February holiday on the slopes. In La Plagne, your dream will become a reality.
La Plagne Tarentaise is more than just a winter sports resort, it is also a modern mountain village! Designated as a "Village resort", La Plagne is composed of many hamlets and districts:
La Plagne is the ideal ski resort for discovering downhill skiing and learning to telemark. From the Dou du Praz, many snowshoeing and dog sledding tours are organised for families and groups of friends.
The resort also offers exciting experiences, such as skeleton, a head-down sledge race. Its Olympic bobsleigh run offers the opportunity for you and your family to hurtle down an icy slide. The children's laughter will echo all the way down the valley!
Every year since 1990, on the last weekend of July, a legendary trail race called "La Course des Géants" is held by the resort; it takes place over 6000 m of vertical drop, hence its nickname: the 6000D.
From the valley's apple trees to the Bellecôte glacier, visitors will discover the villages of La Plagne, its forests and its trails. We recommend the 11 km 6D Discovery course to introduce these breathtaking new landscapes to your family.
